About the author: Gabriel Dupuy

Gabriel Dupuy is Professor of Urban Planning at Université de Paris I-Panthéon-Sorbonne and at the École nationale des ponts et chaussées. In addition to directing the Center for Research on Networks, Industry and Urban Planning (CRIA, associated with CNRS) at Paris I, he is responsible for the Masters programme on urban planning and urbanism.
Gabriel Dupuy is editor-in-chief and founder of the scientific journal Flux – Cahiers Internationaux Réseaux et Territoires and has published extensively. His work on ‘network urbanism’ has been a prime source in the French and Spanish speaking world for two decades.

Gabriel Dupuy obtained a degree in civil engineering at the École Centrale de Paris. He holds a doctoral degree in mathematics (Université Paris VI) and in the social sciences (Université Paris V). After practising as an urban planning consultant, he returned to the University as Director of the renowned Institut d’Urbanisme de Paris (IUP; 1976-1980). Subsequently, he was Director of Education at the École nationale des ponts et chaussées (Paris 1981-1986) and Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Programma on Cities at the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS).
