About the author: Julia Williams Robinson
Julia Williams Robinson, Ph.D., is Professor of Architecture at the University of Minnesota and a registered architect. In addition to a doctoral degree from Delft University of Technology, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, a professional Bachelor of Architecture degree, and a Master's Degree in Anthropology. Educated in both architecture and anthropology, her work focuses on cultural aspects of both architecture and of the discipline of architecture.
Co-editor, with Andrzej Piotrowski, of The Discipline of Architecture (2001),
Professor Robinson teaches courses on social and cultural forces in architecture at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She also leads graduate design studios on housing and urban design as well as thesis studios.. In alternate years she directs the international program "Innovative Housing and Urban Design in the Netherlands." She received several fellowships to complete the research for the book Home and Institution: Architecture as a Cultural Medium.
